ABOUT THE PANELIST
Patrick Chung
Patrick is Managing General Partner of Xfund. Prior to Xfund, Patrick was a partner at NEA and led the firm’s consumer and seed investment practices. He is a director of 23andMe and Philo, and led investments in Guideline, Halo Neuro, IFTTT, Landit, Nebula Genomics, NewtonX, Rock Health, ThirdLove, and Zumper. Past investments include Segment (acquired by Twilio), Kensho (acquired by S&P Global), Plaid (almost acquired by Visa), Pulse (acquired by LinkedIn), Loopt (acquired by Green Dot), GoodGuide (acquired by Underwriters Laboratories), Ravel Law (acquired by Lexis-Nexis), Xfire (acquired by Viacom), and Xoom (NASDAQ: XOOM). Prior to joining NEA, Patrick helped to grow ZEFER, an Internet services firm (acquired by NEC) to more than $100 million in annual revenues and more than 700 people across six global offices. Prior to ZEFER, Patrick was with McKinsey & Company, where he specialized in hardware, software, and services companies. 

Patrick received a joint JD-MBA degree from Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School, where he served as an Editor of the Harvard Law Review. Patrick was a Commonwealth Scholar at Oxford University, where he earned a Master of Science degree. Patrick earned his A.B. degree at Harvard College in Environmental Science. He is a member of the New York and Massachusetts bars, was an elected director of the Harvard Alumni Association, and a member of the Committee to Visit Harvard College. He is also an Associate of the Creative Destruction Lab at the University of Toronto.
Matt Salzberg
Matt has spent his career as an operator and investor in companies across all stages of their lifecycle, and now brings that unique mix of skills to Material as Managing Partner where he is focused on systematic company creation opportunities. Matt founded Blue Apron in 2011 and served as President & CEO for its first six years, overseeing Blue Apron's growth from idea to category-leading public company. During that time, Matt built Blue Apron into a nationally recognizable brand with millions of customers and innovative supply chain. Matt led Blue Apron's $2 billion IPO in June 2017 and served as CEO until the company had approximately $910 million of trailing revenue and 5,000 employees. Matt is currently Blue Apron's Chairman, and serves on the company's Board of Directors. Matt has a passion for entrepreneurship and is heavily involved in the entrepreneurial ecosystem as an angel investor, board member and repeat founder. He is the co-founder of Embark Veterinary, a next generation genetic testing company for dogs, where he serves on the Board of Directors. He has also made dozens of investments in start-ups, served on a variety of corporate boards and volunteers as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Harvard Business School— a Dean’s appointment where he meets with and advises students on entrepreneurship related topics. Before Blue Apron, Matt worked as a senior associate at Bessemer Venture Partners and as an analyst with The Blackstone Group. Matt holds an A.B. degree in economics, summa cum laude, from Harvard College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He was named 35 under 35 by Inc. Magazine, 40 under 40 by Fortune, and 40 under 40 by Crain's. He was also the recipient of the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year national award in 2016.

Rose Wang
Rose is the Head of Customer Experience at Forethought, an AI company, and was the CEO/co-founder of Chirps, a sustainable food company that makes high protein foods with insect protein. She is a Forbes 30 under 30 social entrepreneur, ELLE USA Impact Award winner, Echoing Green climate fellow, MassChallenge Gold Winner, Harvard Dean's Design Challenge winner, and TEDx speaker. In college, Rose managed HSA Cleaners and The Harvard Shop through Harvard Student Agencies, managing an annual budget of $1.5M. She also has a passion for education and sits on the board of an education non-profit, Wema Inc., in Kenya. She is a graduate of Harvard College and broke the world record for the world's largest nachos.
Lisa Wang
Lisa is founder and CEO of Almost Fun, an ed-tech non-profit empowering the learning of marginalized students through culturally-responsive educational resources. Today, Almost Fun supports the learning of hundreds of thousands of students every month and is supported by organizations including AT&T and Google.org. Prior to Almost Fun, Lisa was a product manager on the Google Education team, building tools used by 60 million teachers and students worldwide. She graduated from Harvard in 2016 with a degree in Computer Science and Math.
